Gone Girl

If my wife went missing, the first place I’d look is at the Target near our house in Santa Clara. The second place I’d look is at the Target on Coleman in San Jose.

She and I recently went on a date to see Gone Girl, starring Ben Affleck. (Thankfully it wasn’t our first date, otherwise my two youngest children may not exist.)

*Don’t worry, I won’t ruin it for those of you who haven’t seen the movie.

I gave the movie 3.5 stars. My wife gave it two. Perhaps a missing husband would increase my wife’s rating to four stars.

I shudder at the thought of being thrust into a missing person situation. Not to mention that my wife ALWAYS reminds me that if she ever goes missing, I’ll surely appear on Dateline or 20/20. Uh … okay.

It’s safe to say that I’ll never meet Dateline host Lester Holt.

Movies that have the potential to imitate life often tug at one’s heartstrings in unusual and unpredictable ways. That must be the thrill.

Gone Girl will take you for a ride. Just don’t make it a first date.
